| Project summary |
The MoNi intercomparison exercise in 2024 studied non-volatile difficult and easy to measure (DTM, ETM) radionuclides in a highly activated steel sample. The focus in the MoNi II exercise is in analysis of ETMs, Ni-59 and Mo-93. Optional radionuclides for analysis were Fe-55, Ni-63, Zr-93, Nb-94 and Nb-93m. A homogenised sample (i.e., acid digestion of the sample and distribution of aliquots to the partners) was selected to be studies due to the expected small scale heterogeneoities of high activity steel samples. Preliminary discussions on the submitted results will be carried out in October and final results with statistical analyses in November. A NKS report will be submitted by the end of the year and a peer-reviewed publication will be submitted in Journal of Radioanalytical and Nuclear Chemistry in 2025.
