NKS Programme Area: | NKS-R | Research Area: | Severe accidents and Reactor Physics | Report Number: | NORD 1989:75 | Report Title: | Prevention of catastrophic failure in pressure vessels and pipings | Activity Acronym: | MAT-570 | Authors: | Rauno Rintamaa, Kim Wallin, Kari Ikonen, Kari Törrönen, Heli Talja, Heikki Keinänen, Arja Saarenheimo, Matti Sarkimo, Fred Nilsson, Stig Wästberg, Christian Debel | Abstract: | The fracture resistance and integrity of pressure-loaded
components have been assessed in a Nordic research programme.
Experiments were performed to validate the computational
fracture assessment analysis. Two tests were also
conducted on a large decommissioned pressure vessel from an
oil refinery plant.
Different fracture assessment methods were developed and
subsequently applied to the tested components. Interlaboratory
round robin programmes with the participation of several
laboratories were arranged to examine elastic-plastic
finite element calculations and fracture mechanics testing.
The transferability of material parameters derived from
small specimens with simple crack geometries to more realistic
crack geometries in real components has been verified. | Publication date: | 01 Nov 1989 | ISBN: | ISBN: 87-7303-348-0 | Number of downloads: | 10842 | Download: | 102.PDF |
