RESINA: Intercomparison exercise on alpha radionuclide analysis in spent ion exchange resin
NKS-B Research Area
Measurement strategies, technology and quality assurance
Project summary
Radiochemical analysis of difficult to measure radionuclides in decommissioning waste includes alpha and beta emitters, which are both challenged by radiochemical separation from the studied matrix and from interfering radionuclides. This proposal focuses on alpha emitter analysis (e.g. Pu-238, Pu-239, Pu-240, Np-237, Am-241, Cm-244) in a spent ion exchange resin and statistical analysis of the results via an intercomparison exercise. The same resin was studied for beta emitters in 2021 (DTM Decom III project).
