Introductory Note
The newsletters are sent to everyone on the NKS address list, including everyone who has requested information on current NKS events and reports. Anyone not already on this list can be added free of charge by contacting nks@nks.org.
First Announcement
An NKS Status Seminar will be
held in Otaniemi (Otnäs), Finland, May 10 – 11, 2006.
Scope and objectives: To present ongoing and finalized activities within the R (reactor safety) and B (emergency preparedness) framework programs from the start in 2002 to the present date, and the results obtained so far. Evaluations of the last 4 years of NKS work will be presented and discussed, and future goals will be outlined. The seminar offers an opportunity for everyone interested in NKS work to get an update, make new contacts, and participate in discussions on future activities.
Target group: Persons directly or indirectly engaged in NKS work, e.g., program managers, activity leaders, other participants, board members, end users etc. The young generation is especially encouraged to participate in the seminar.
Sponsor: NKS
Fee: Not finally decided; but probably not more than (the equivalent of) DKK 900. This includes two buffet lunches, a conference dinner, and coffee/tea/refreshments. Hotel and travel costs are not included.
Tentative duration: Registration starts at 11:00 (Finnish time) on May 10. The seminar is closed at 12 noon on May 11.
Official language: Scandinavian (Danish, Norwegian, Swedish), possibly with some presentations and discussions in English.

NKS-B – Emergency Preparedness Summary Seminar – EMPRE. STUK, Helsinki, November 21, 2005.
The intention with the seminar is to summarise results from NKS-B activities that have focused on emergency preparedness. Representatives from Nordic authorities in nuclear and radiological emergency preparedness have been especially invited. The seminar is also intended to be a forum where possible new activities can be presented and discussed.
Those who are interested in participating in the EMPRE seminar are encouraged to contact the NKS-B Programme Manager (Siguršur Emil Pįlsson) as soon as possible, e-mail: sep@gr.is.
