International Cooperation

There is no formalized NKS cooperation with other international organizations. A couple of joint EU-NKS seminars have been arranged for mutual presentation and exchange of information. Whenever feasible and desirable, NKS activities are adapted to conform with similar activities administered by EU or OECD/NEA. The development of new ICRP recommendations and IAEA Basic Safety Standards is followed closely, and international conferences arranged by IRPA are of great interest to Nordic institutions. NSFS (Nordic Society for Radiation Protection) is an independent organization of radiation protection officers and other experts on the various sources and uses of ionizing as well as non-ionizing radiation.
